Simply stated, the stresses of life are bearing down.I'm weakened, exhausted, gasping for breath. It shouldn't be a surprise considering my pre run meal, or complete lack thereof!
Last Saturday I was looking forward to running up at my in-laws on some country roads. I got up early on Saturday morning and headed out...but I didn't eat anything before going and didn't think anything of it.
The run was beautiful. The moon was setting, the sun was rising and Chris Harrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03330019157257262366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671653270691226515.post-24914502655873417472011-02-22T07:56:00.000-06:002011-02-22T07:56:49.870-06:00MIAI've been missing in action for a while...got a few things to blog about. You might be surprised that conditions were perfect, but honestly no matter what the weather is on the day of the Groundhog Run conditions are always perfect. Why? Because of this fun fact: the Groundhog Run is the only known run inChris Harrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03330019157257262366noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671653270691226515.post-19325876364285445992011-01-25T20:53:00.003-06:002011-01-25T20:56:54.206-06:00Listen...We all like to talk but it's also a good idea to LISTEN. And I've learned the best thing to do as a runner is to listening to my body as I train. Lately I've been noticing some IT band soreness in my right leg. The good part is that this is happening during a recovery week during my training which allows me to decrease my training and focus on my IT band at the same time.

Complete 12 races in 2011 -- then do a race report along with a photo of your bling!I've got 3 races planned so far for the year...got another one I'm thinking of adding for April. It may be tough to get 12 in, but I think it'll be a fun challenge...after all, it's about the bling!Chris Harrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03330019157257262366noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671653270691226515.post-39443810361836058072011-01-18T19:39:00.001-06:002011-01-18T19:42:05.451-06:00New Shoe Tuesday!!!!They arrived!!! I think about just everything - family, work, life, religion, etc. I started thinking about the previous year and why I started running in the first place. Normally on my runs I don't think about running but it has become a big part of who I am. And that's when it hit me -- running is a part of who I Chris Harrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03330019157257262366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671653270691226515.post-80192626829046823342011-01-09T19:28:00.003-06:002011-01-09T19:49:47.569-06:00Road ID Discount CodeMy previous post touched on Road ID. No biggie. But this time I forgot a crucial piece of gear. I had reflective gear but I left home without my RoadID.One mile into my run as car after car are passing me I noticed I didn't have it. Worse case thoughts start streaming through my head. I know the chances of something happening are slim, but if something where to happen no one would know who I wasChris Harrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03330019157257262366noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671653270691226515.post-27835765318636827392010-12-31T16:59:00.009-06:002010-12-31T17:46:15.812-06:00ChangeI wasn't planning on writing a year end post, but the more I look back at 2010 I figured I'd throw a few things out here. I started running in April. Since then I've logged 400 miles, an average of 44 miles per month (over 9 months)! I was injured in September and only logged 8 miles that month, otherwise my total might have been a little higher!I've ran 7 "official" 5 km (3.1 mile) races. Tonight I signed up for my 1st marathon -- the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon! I've got 17 weeks to train and I've already logged a few long runs (8 - 12 miles) in the past month. I'm excited and a little nervous but I've got plenty of time to get trained up.Here are my goals for the race. First, just finish. Since this is my first marathon I figured this is a pretty good Chris Harrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03330019157257262366noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671653270691226515.post-11216704442554108172010-12-28T21:04:00.002-06:002010-12-28T21:26:42.806-06:00HellasocksBeing a new runner, running gear topped my Christmas wish list. I believe one thing that might be universal among runners is that they love socks. So if you're looking for a gift for a runner, try finding some great innovative socks!
First on the list is what I gave. I got to participate in the Secret Santa gift exchange on the DailyMile.com. The best place to start any story is at the beginning and that is where we'll begin.
As a youngster I never really enjoyed running. I don't know why, but it never appealed to me. When I started college I started running because I had a ton Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10217255467604197147noreply@blogger.com2
